Our Researchers

NCSFR-supported research is conducted by a regional network of scientists and faculty across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and other institutions — working on small fruits, grapes, and specialty crops challenges that directly impact the Pacific Northwest industry.

These researchers represent applied expertise across disciplines, connecting scientific discovery with real-world agricultural practice.

NCSFR works with researchers at federal, state, and other research institutions across the region. Their work spans variety development, integrated pest management, production systems, post-harvest quality, and related disciplines. All research is funded through competitive proposal cycles shaped by industry-defined priorities and evaluated for both scientific merit and practical relevance.

From Proposal to Publication

Submit Proposals

Researchers submit proposals aligned with current NCSFR priorities, evaluated for scientific merit, relevance, and potential for practical outcomes.

Conduct Funded Work

Funded researchers carry out projects at their institutions, providing updates and working with NCSFR to ensure findings are accessible and actionable.

Present at Conference

Researchers present findings at the NCSFR Annual Conference, connecting directly with growers, industry stakeholders, and fellow researchers across the Pacific Northwest.

Contribute to the NCSFR Research Library

Completed projects are archived in the NCSFR research record — extending the reach of findings and building a regional knowledge base for small fruits, grapes, and specialty crops over time.
